Welcome back from the week off! I was out of town most of the week, so I was not able to grade any tests. I will work on these tests this week. due to some other priority items upon my return.

Tutoring: Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning

Assessments: Quiz on Friday and test next Friday, the 12/12.

Monday
We will start class with time to finish unit test and write prior unit reflections.
Today, we start the trig unit with the conversion of radians and degrees and a look at the 3 main trig functions ( sine, cosine and tangent).

Help:https://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/unit-circle-trig-func/radians_tutorial/v/radians-and-degrees
HW: Study the trig definitions and the side labels

Tuesday
I will spend more time on the trig values to find missing angles and sides.
Also, we fill in the unit circle for use during the unit.

Help:http://www.mathwords.com/s/sohcahtoa.htm ( looks good with diagrams)
HW: None

Wednesday
Today, you look at the trig identity of sin^2 and cos^2 equals one after you practice using the unit circle.

Help:https://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/less-basic-trigonometry
HW; None

Thursday
Today, we review for the unit quiz with a focus on radians / degrees, using trig functions and the unit circle.

Help:http://www.mathsisfun.com/geometry/unit-circle.html
HW: Study for the quiz

Friday
Yes, we are one week closer to the next break. The class will have a quiz  on trig functions.  You can use your unit circle on the quiz and your trig diagram.

HW: None, enjoy the weekend!

Have a great weekend!

GPS Advanced Algebra 12/1-12/5/2014

Welcome back from the holidays, I hope you had a restful week off. I was out of town most of the holiday, so I will grade your tests this week as I have other priority items to do upon my return.

Tutoring: Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning

Assessments: Quiz on Thursday or Friday this week

Monday
Today, we start the conics unit, with the circles as the highlighted conic of the day. I think you find this lesson the easiest of all lessons this week.
Help:http://www.webmath.com/gcircle.html
HW: None

Tuesday
We are on circles again today with a focus on equations of tangent lines and practice on circles. I will allow plenty of practice time in class to ensure mastery. I have an activity I created named, What is my Equation? ( I have a circular answer sheet too)
Help;https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra2/conics_precalc/circles-tutorial-precalc/e/graphing_circles
HW: None

Wednesday
Moving along on the conics unit, it is the ellipse of the day. These conics are very similar to a circle, so if you know a circle, you can graph an ellipse. The hardest part is the distinction of the vertices and the co-vertices.
Help:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nxT6LQhXLM
HW: Study for the quiz

Thursday
Day two of the ellipse is here.  We focus on writing the equation of an ellipse. I will review writing coordinates of points.
Help:http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/Alg/Ellipses.aspx
HW: none

Friday
Yes, we made it, one less week until the end of the semester and one week closer to the next holiday! We work on a translated ellipse worksheet, and a White house application. I also will allow time to work on some missing work from the semester.
Help:http://www.purplemath.com/modules/ellipse2.htm
HW: none

Have a great weekend!
